SC ILVAS SA Vaslui was set up by taking over the patrimony of the former Industrial Milk Processing Plant built in 1971, becoming a corporation in 1991 and, beginning with 2002, part of the RACOVA GROUP.
The main object of activity of the company is the processing and selling of milk and dairy products, being the largest milk processing plant in the Vaslui county.
Between 2003 – 2004 the company implemented a vast project co-financed with Sapard funds, meant for importing new technologies and for modernizing the production capacities, which were brought up to European standards. Currently, the plant’s processing capacity is over 120.000 hl milk per year.
Raw material milk comes in over 40% from the three farms within the holding, the rest being collected from the population in the countryside. The company collects milk from 30 centres and provided ten of them with cooling and storing tanks, the transportation of the milk to the plant being performed with specialized transportation means.
The production activity is mainly organized in three sections:
- - the fresh products section – fresh milk, yogurt, buttermilk, sour cream, fruit yogurt, fresh cow’s milk cheese
- - the cheeses section – green cheese, cottage cheese, pressed cheese, truckle cheese
- - the butter section – table butter and cake butter
In 2004, in addition to the process of importing new technologies and modernizing the production units, the company implemented a project for changing its image and launched on the market the range of dairy products “VIO” - natural, high quality products. The products are well known and appreciated by consumers and the company is highly trusted by its business partners.
In 2005 SC ILVAS SA started the implementing of an integrated management system concerning quality – food products safety, according to the provisions of the ISO 9001:2001 and HACCP standards, with the purpose of obtaining certification at the end of the year.
The immediate development aims of the company are the development of the products range, the increasing of the production capacity, the raising of the market quota, the selling of the products in hyper-markets, as well as the setting up of the company’s own distribution network for the Moldova area.
